After parting ways with Mirror Mirror, I have decided to join forces with Robots Rise! This project is fun, different, with one goal: play shows. We do not expect to “make it” (but think we are definitelyhave the chops) we just want to create good music. We recently uploaded some rough live tracks from our last show onto our Robots Rise Facebook Fan Page.
Crazy passport drama delayed us by a day–and had a Toronto layover (Canada is nice though, and the people are awesome!)Arrive in Paris…we see EVERYTHING possible–a lot of walking and metro-hopping!
First night….I am engaged! Costin asked me to spend the rest of my life with him, while we were out to a lovely dinner, and I cried–you know how I get–and said “yes.” Spent a fantastic five days there and saw the Louvre, Musee De Orsay, Arch de Triomphe, the EiffelTower, Notre Dame, took a bicycle tour, and then hopped a train to Belgium where we met up with Costin’s sister. Lueven, Belgium is a BEAUTIFUL secluded college town where the yummy beer Stella was born. We drink beer, eat amazing food, and dance all night in Lueven for three days. We discovered Westmalle Triple–the most amazing 9.5% alcohol beer that has ever been created. We visit the fashion capital of Belgium–Antwerp–and make a stop in Bruges! Bruges is touristy–but super fun and Medevil!
We then hop another train (along with Costin’s sis) to Amsterdam, where we are to spend the last five days of the grand trip. Amsterdam is awesome! TJ and Vegas all rolled into one. Between the public urinals in the middle of the town square, the prostitutes in shop windows, and the “coffee shops,” this place was unlike any place I had been.
We met up with Johnelle and danced the night away at Club Royalty—a place we came to love. “Poker Face” by Lady GaGa never gets old when it comes to clubbing…I don’t know what it is about that song + booze + friends/Costin that makes me want to dance!
I pull my back or it spasms….or something. Basically, on the second to last day, I wake up with a stiff back and cannot bend in any direction. We get me some meds and a heated back brace, and move on. On the bright side, I won a talent show at a historic Red Light District gay bar! The prize was a bottle of wine! They loved my acappella renditions of Queen’s “Somebody to Love” as well as Dusty Springfeild’s “You Don’t Have to say you Love me.”
We saw Van Gogh’s museum, the Anne Frank House, The Amsterdamn History Museum, The Rijksmuseum, the Red Light District, and took a lovely Canal Tour! The end of the trip approaches, and my new fiance and I head out on two trains and two planes. We are anxious to get back to reality and responsibility, but are sad to see our European vacation end.
That’s right–my amazing band Mirror Mirror will be fighting for a spot on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour! We have been selected to compete in a “battle of the bands” at Slide Bar in Fullerton on July 31st, and we need our friends, family, and fans to come out and cheer us on! If we dominate that competition, we are off to finals… then Warped Tour!
Set time at Slide Bar is to be announced, and tickets are $10 presale.

Shhhhhh….secret, tiny, acoustic gig on Monday, February 9th! Not a big deal–we just wanted to take on the challenge of a coffee shop open-mic night ! We will be at The Ugly Mug in Old Town Orange, around 8-ish, and we will most likely perform a 3 song set. We are not really promoting the gig, but if you like the coffee shop scene, be sure to check it out!
Last night was a success–Mirror Mirror kicked ass (and took names!) We played a packed house at The Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest, and had an amazing show. I know the music business is tough, but Mirror Mirror has it handled. Thanks to everyone who came out last night!
